Stereo sound installation at the Galerie Commune, Tourcoing, France. 2016.
In collaboration with Hayley Brandon.
An exploration into the slippage of language continues in the work I watch where two voices read out a poetic text. The text is spoken in both English and French, and marks an ongoing collaboration between Brandon and I, in which we use the process of translation to generate nonsensical text and sound works to explore our shared fascination with repetition, gesture and the sonic.
This work reveals the inherent aural spatial design of the building and the speakers are arranged so that as the viewers move around the exhibition space they discover hot and cold aural spots; where one or both voices dominate.
